The head of NASA talks about the presence of aliens. “We are searching for life in the universe”

Bill Nelson came to Romania to discuss aspects of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States. He also gave details about future NASA expeditions and the presence of extraterrestrials, in an interview with Antena 3 CNN.

The head of NASA detailed the possibility of a mission on the planet Jupiter due to the presence of water in that place. Scientists believe that this is also a sign of the presence of a life form. That’s why NASA is planning to launch an expedition.

“Jupiter is cold and covered in ice. The ice is maybe a mile and a half thick, and beneath it is a warm ocean. It is an ocean so large that it is twice the amount of water we have in our oceans on planet Earth. So if there’s water, we think there’s a chance there’s life there.”explained Bill Nelson.

Life on Mars was another topic discussed. The head of NASA presented what, at the moment, researchers are looking for on Mars. They collect samples using two truck-sized rovers. One of these, Perseverance, has a drill that collects cigar-sized samples.

“There will be 32, and we’ll go back to Mars and pick them up and bring them home. Now why? Because this is the bottom of a dry lake on Mars, millions of years ago there was water there.”said the guest.

NASA will once again send crews to the moon to learn and train astronauts to live in that hostile environment.

The presence of aliens

Bill Nelson said that, at the moment, no extraterrestrial presence has been detected, but he does not deny the possibility of it or traces of life in space. He motivates research to find out if these creatures exist. The institution uses high-performance materials and technologies to study samples and observe astronomical changes.

“We haven’t found any aliens, but the search for life in the universe is part of our status. So we’re digging up samples on Mars. We have the James Webb Space Telescope starting to find other exoplanets. We have another telescope, the Nancy Grace Space Telescope, that will specifically look for habitable planets orbiting other stars that have the right environment, not too hot, not too cold, that have the right chemical composition. So we are looking for life in the universe. And the Europa Clipper, which just launched a few days ago, is doing that too, looking for life.”Bill Nelson added.

NASA and Romania

Romania signed a collaboration with NASA on March 1, 2022, through the Artemis Agreements. It established cooperative principles for civilian exploration of the Moon, Mars, comets and asteroids, all within the context of the NASA-led Artemis exploration program.

Bill Nelson met, on Thursday, with Prime Minister Mrcel Ciolacu and Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization to discuss the new lines of collaboration. The head of NASA sees more opportunities for discussions and engagements between the two states.
