The elected mayor of Ploiești, Mihai Polițeanu, revealed, in the show “Insider Politic”, broadcast on Saturday on Prima TV, how much his electoral campaign cost.
“Towards 30,000 euros. As an independent candidate, I had a maximum of 33,000 euros. I was fundamentally lucky, thanks to the law, that the money is returned, and then it was easier to borrow. It was a campaign with personal money, the team’s money, my girlfriend’s money, the colleagues who ran. We were the most terrorized by the pre-campaign, where there is no limit for spending money. We were sure that the roller would come PNL and PSD over us with huge 6×4 banners and this is exactly what happened. We managed to get by by being in the streets every day, also because it was a necessity: we had to collect the necessary signatures for the candidacy and we collected them for real. We had confirmation that we have an absolutely real chance to win. We collected 5,000 or so signatures, although the required number was 1,800, and they were not easily collected. It was very clear to us from the way people were signing – they were signing with thirst! There was a very clear conversion between signatures and voting. It was very clear to us that those people would talk to their wives or relatives, it was clear that 80% of those signatures would be converted into votes“, said Mihai Polițeanu on Prima TV, according to News.ro.
The independent deputy Mihai Polițeanu won the Ploiești City Hall, in the local elections of 2024. Polițeanu wants to remain independent from political corruption networks, including the big parties such as PSD and PNL, which he considers responsible for the corruption in Prahova County. He won the elections with 25.49% of the votes, ahead of Bogdan Nica (PNL) and Andrei Volosevici (PSD).
