Thus, among movies, music and social networks, the useful information that people glean from the online environment also creeps in.
The Internet, the main source of information for Romanians
A study by ATLAS VPN shows that 57.8% of Internet users use this technology, among other things, to search for information, such as news or historical data. At the same time, 53.7% of Internet users declared that they use the Internet to keep in touch with their family, through various communication applications, both through messages and audio.
A large percentage, 49.7%, said they use the Internet to watch short videos, movies or even online shows. At the same time, statistics also show that there are also many people who use the Internet to look for new ideas, such as business ones. Thus, no less than 44.3% declared that they get inspiration with the help of the Internet.
Do Romanians use the internet correctly?
Even though the Internet is extremely useful, especially due to the speed with which information is distributed, users must be very careful when it comes to the time they spend online. Exaggerations, say specialists, can lead to concentration problems, sleep problems or even anxiety states.
“We must use these technologies carefully. Internet is good, but when used in moderation. There is good information, but also false information, on the Internet. I have met patients who obtained information from harmful online sources, especially during the pandemic. Thus, they came to the office scared, because those sites presented them with a different reality. I also had patients who were extremely scared of the war in Ukraine because they were getting their wrong information online. People belong to all kinds of groups, where anyone can share any idea. We need to educate ourselves in this sense, to know how to select our information“, said Andreea Coman, psychologist.
