The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that the severe burns center in Târgu Mureș, which is in an advanced stage of construction, could most likely be put into use in the fall of this year. According to the official, in the first part of the year follows the decisive stage, which includes equipping with medical equipment, testing circuits and validating the operation of all systems.
“Romania needs burn centers. And, finally, it will have them. After the large burn center in Timişoara, the next one to enter the straight line is the severe burn center in Târgu Mureş. The construction is almost complete”, sent Alexandru Rogobete, in a post on Facebook.
The minister specified that, from a technical point of view, it is a major and fully integrated investment, made in a new building with a total area of 24,113 square meters, designed specifically for the treatment of critical patients.
The major burn center will include five beds for critical patients, ten beds for intermediate therapy, microsurgery and reconstructive surgery wards, an intensive care unit with 44 beds, as well as an operating block equipped with 25 operating rooms.
There are also spaces related to the medical act, a blood transfusion center, a sterilization unit and a training center for medical personnel.

“I know that the topic of burn centers has been used more for speeches than for results. That is precisely why today we are talking about facts. This center exists. It can be seen. And it will save lives. Because, beyond walls and equipment, this is where the difference between despair and chance, between loss and life will happen. Trust does us good.” the Minister of Health also said.
Previously, in November 2025, Alexandru Rogobete announced that the first patients could be treated at the major burns centers in Timișoara and Târgu Mureș in the summer of this year, saying that the pace of work is good. According to him, both centers would be put into use approximately at the same time.
