The top prize in Loto 6/49, of almost 4.5 million euros, was claimed by a 50-year-old man from Botoșani. The winner, who wished to remain anonymous, says he has been playing the same numbers for over 10 years.
A 50-year-old man from Botoșani is the winner of the big prize up for grabs in the Lotto 6/49 draw on February 12, 2026. He claimed his prize on Monday, March 9, after his ticket proved to be the only one containing the winning combination.
The value of the jackpot won amounts to 22,948,891.68 lei, i.e. approximately 4.5 million euros, one of the most important sums awarded recently in this game category.
The man who became a millionaire chose not to make his identity public. Instead, he delivered a short but motivating message for those who continue to try their luck in the lottery.
“Believe, because I succeeded through perseverance. Good luck and maximum success to all”, said the winner.
He played the same numbers for over 10 years
According to the information provided by the Romanian Lottery, the man from Botoșan works in the field of transport and is a consistent player. He said that he used to participate in Lotto 6/49 draws for many years and that for more than a decade he has been filling in the same combination of numbers on the tickets.
The numbers that eventually brought him the big prize were not chosen based on a particular strategy, but randomly, but the man continued to play them constantly, convinced that one day luck would smile on him.
In fact, he testified that he was convinced that at some point he would win the big prize and that he intended to use part of the amount obtained for investments.
The ticket that brought him the money was purchased online, through the AmParcat.ro application. It was completed with three variants of Loto 6/49 and one variant of Noroc, and the total cost was 28 lei.
