The statement was made, on Tuesday, for Agerpres, by the manager of the “Marius Nasta” Institute, Beatrice Mahler.

“At this moment, the Marius Nasta Institute does not have a valid operating health authorization. We have taken the necessary steps, all that are legally required, for this to happen and we are waiting for a response from the Directorate of Public Health. Practically, two years ago, the Marius Nasta Institute accessed European funds aimed at modernizing the network of electrical and gas installations worth almost 10 million lei from the Ministry of European Funds, aimed at changing the electrical network, which was from 1962, but they also targeted the installation of air filters specific to the Operating Block, which were required by DSP since 2018”explained the manager of the “Marius Nasta” Institute.

“The effects on the medical activity are reflected and growing”

Beatrice Mahler says that the changes made were needed, but the lack of a response produces effects in the medical area.

“These changes that we made within the old structure of the institute were and are necessary, but they require a point of view from DSP to evaluate the works and to start the activities, especially in the Intensive Care area, where there are 9 suspended beds and 3 operating rooms. Unfortunately, we still don’t have an answer and the effects on the medical activity are spreading and growing, and are increasing from one week to the next”Beatrice Mahler showed.

“We can no longer buy those forms from the Health Insurance House”

The unit’s manager signaled that the special forms that doctors use to prescribe medication to a patient or recommend control investigations can no longer be bought.

“Beyond the imminence that such a situation has in the interruption of the contract with the House (of Health Insurance – no), the special forms by which the doctors of ‘Marius Nasta’ can prescribe medication to the patient or recommend control investigations in the hospital’s outpatient clinic for patients with suspected neoplasia or the periodic checks that lung cancer patients need cannot be carried out, as we can no longer buy those forms from the House“, claimed the pulmonologist.

“I’m worried about winter coming”

Beatrice Mahler also says that external visits for the authorization of the national tuberculosis laboratory can no longer be carried out under these conditions.

“Another unpleasant impact comes in the authorization area of the national laboratory of tuberculosis, which, in order to be authorized internationally, needs some external controls that are currently blocked, precisely because this authorization must meet certain criteria and they must be respected by the institute. I am concerned that winter is coming, that at the moment patients are being operated on in Ward 2. There is a post-operative Intensive Care area in Ward 2, but the thoracic surgery ward is in Ward 1 and basically, post-operatively, the next day, patients are in this moment transported through the yard. This creates a real discomfort for the patients – I think the temperature drop in the external environment requires solutions – or we change the structure. But without the DSP we cannot take the legal steps that I believe, by our position, we are obliged to take in front of the Romanian patient who pays for health insurance“, Beatrice Mahler also showed.
