The Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruţă, met on Tuesday, January 27, at the MApN headquarters, with a delegation of the Congress of the United States of America, led by Congressman Pat Fallon, the main topics of discussion regarding regional security and the consolidation of collective defense within NATO.

During the meeting, the importance of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States was emphasized, as well as its role in ensuring regional and Euro-Atlantic security, according to a statement sent by the Ministry of Defense.

The officials highlighted cooperation within NATO and the American military presence in Romania as key elements of collective defense.

It was also mentioned that both states have adopted national strategic documents in the field of security and defense, which establish the priorities and directions of action for the next period.

The discussions focused on recent developments in the security environment, with an emphasis on the implications of the war in Ukraine, the security of the Eastern Flank of the Alliance and the strategic role of the Black Sea region.

Minister Radu Miruţă and the American delegation also discussed the perspectives of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, emphasizing the political-military dialogue, interoperability and the development of capabilities, in support of regional and Euro-Atlantic security.
