The Minister of Education, Daniel David, is trying to defuse a new wave of protests announced by teachers and invite the representatives of the three great trade union federations to discuss.

The Ministry of Education has transmitted a statement in which it convenes the leaders of the three great Trade Union Federations, the Federation of Free Education Unions, the Federation of Education Unions “Spiru Haret” and the National Trade Union Federation “Alma Mater”. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 5:00 pm, at the ministry’s headquarters.
This decision comes after the unions transmitted that on Wednesday, June 18, the teachers and the other employees of the pre -university and university education, from the central university libraries and from the research institutes will organize a protest at the workplace, during which they will carry distinctive signs to indicate this (banners, badge).
Wednesday’s protest comes against the background of older dissatisfaction, related to the fact that, two years after the general education strike, many of the promises assumed by the authorities have not been respected, but also of some new ones, generated by the emergence in the public space of the minister regarding the modification of the status of the holder and their 8 hours.
“The teaching teaching staff is deeply restless and revolted by the proposals that have appeared in the public space regarding the modification of the status of holder in education and that they would carry out their activity for 8 hours a day in the educational units.
These days have passed two years since the completion of the general strike. On this occasion, we would like to remember the political class that there are still unfinished promises, that the unmotivant and non -compliant pay with the work performed by the employees in education keeps young people away from this system.”, The teachers’ representatives transmitted.
Also, “The three trade union federations point out that, if the protest on Wednesday will be treated with indifference, and the future government will put into practice the proposals for measures that will affect the educational employees, are determined to trigger extensive protest actions!”
The reaction of the Ministry of Education
In this context, in the hope of defying a new wave of protests, Minister Daniel David invited him to discuss the trade unionists.
“The Ministry of Education and Research has noted the public statement of the educational unions by which a series of dissatisfaction and the union measures are expressed accordingly.
