“Rare diseases don’t start with clear symptoms. They start with questions. With long journeys between specialists, with years in which parents or adult patients learn more about limits than solutions. In rare diseases, any new therapeutic option can change a family’s story. That’s why access to modern treatments becomes essential. These are therapies that can change the course of some lives.” says Alexandru Rogobete, on Facebook.

Rogobete talks about Vosoritidum – for children with achondroplasia, a genetic disease that affects bone growth and brings risks from the first year of life. This is the first reimbursed treatment in Romania, and studies show an additional growth of approximately 9 centimeters in five years, and for these children this means less suffering and a safer childhood.

Efgartigimodum alfa – for patients with myasthenia gravis, experiencing severe muscle weakness: “A targeted therapy that can stabilize the progression of the disease and restore control over daily activities”.

Berotralstatum – for hereditary angioedema, a disease with unpredictable and sometimes dangerous episodes. “A new option for long-term prevention of these attacks. More safety. Less fear”says the minister.

Vutrisiranum – for hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis, a progressive disease that affects the nerves, mobility and sometimes the heart. “This therapy slows the progression of the disease and helps patients stay active longer.”

“All are answers for people who, for a long time, they had no alternatives and it shows that we are starting to recover where every month counts. At the same time, the list also expands for patients with ulcerative colitis, a common disease that affects thousands of Romanians. Filgotinib is becoming a modern option for those who have not responded to classic therapies — a chance to control the disease and return to a stable life. In health we work for people. And every person who receives a better solution today shows us why we have to continue.” says Alexandru Rogobete.
