The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced on Friday, November 28, that the national network of expertise centers for rare diseases (CEBR) is expanding by including three new specialized units.
“We are expanding the national network of centers of expertise for rare diseases (CEBR) by including three new units specializing in areas where diagnosis is often difficult: cardiovascular diseases with high arrhythmic risk and rare vascular diseases, complex urological pathology and autoimmune and autoinflammatory musculoskeletal diseases.
The three centers will operate within:
• Bucharest Clinical Emergency Hospital – CEBR for cardiovascular diseases with increased arrhythmic risk and rare vascular diseases
• Clinical Hospital «Prof. Dr. Th. Burghele», Bucharest – CEBR for urology
• St. Apostol Andrei Emergency Clinical Hospital, Constanța – CEBR for autoimmune and autoinflammatory musculoskeletal diseases”says Rogobete on Facebook.
In the mentioned structures, patients will have access to molecular and genomic diagnosis, advanced imaging, specialized analyses, genetic counseling and multidisciplinary expertise.
“They are essential to reduce delays that, in rare diseases, sometimes mean years of uncertainty.
We thus bring the CEBR network to 50 functional centers, an infrastructure that begins to provide the predictability needed for patients who have often gone through complicated medical pathways with few answers and many barriers“, adds the Minister of Health.
The Minister of Health states that he supports this network not only by opening new centers, but also by ensuring access to modern treatments.
“This month we introduced essential molecules for patients with rare diseases and severe pathologies, confirming that we are recovering old gaps and turning recommendations into real solutions. Because a healthy system is a system in which patients with rare diseases are seen, supported and treated on time. And that means responsibility, empathy and action”shows Rogobete.
