“With the conclusion of the national Residency Admission Competition, we now have a clear picture of the generation that is about to enter the medical system. It is clear that the level of training is constantly increasing, from one year to the next. (…) At the peak, the results are remarkable: 944 points in medicine, 935 in dentistry and 924 in pharmacy. These are values that confirm the upward direction of performance and show that we have a strong generation in front of us, one that raises the standards and takes the level of excellence further”the minister wrote on Facebook.
In his opinion, the way the contest was conducted confirms that the process is becoming “clearer and more correct” for all.
“The number of appeals has dropped considerably: 23 in medicine, 14 in dentistry and only 1 in pharmacy, reductions between 37% and 93% compared to last year. This means understood, predictable and uniformly applied rules. We have not had any subjects cancelled. (…) And this, from my point of view, is a landmark”, claimed Rogobete.
He mentioned that 4,649 places and positions are available in medicine, almost 10% more than last year.
“Each place represents a young person who finds his direction in the system, a team that strengthens and a real need that we cover in a European context marked by a shortage of medical personnel. It’s a commitment we make with all responsibility: training the people on whom the future of health depends. I thank all those involved, especially Professor Cătălina Poiană, who this year was the president of the Residency Commission”, Alexandru Rogobete sent.
