The Apuseni Mountains are recommended as one of the best destinations with long-distance hiking trails in Europe, according to a material made by the American publication CNN, which includes 13 other trails.

The Hyssna trail, in western Sweden, recognized for the beauty of the area, opens the list of CNN recommendations. The circular route, which includes a 40-kilometer hike, passes through tall beech forests and offers the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the Lilla Hålsjön lake, where there is a dedicated swimming spot.
The 82-kilometer Karhunkierros trail in Finland is Finland's most famous long-distance walk. It is recommended to explore in summer when the nights are bright and the forests are green.
England's Coastal Road, also called King Charles III as of 2022, is 4,300 kilometers long but can be easily divided into sections, with regions to explore from the North West, North East, east, southeast and southwest. Here one can admire the high and steep cliffs and gorgeous bays of Cornwall or the vast skies and deep tranquility of Suffolk and Norfolk.
Covering approximately 616 kilometers, Slovenia's mountain trail stretches from Maribor in the north-east of the country to Ankaran on the Adriatic coast. It can be traveled through the forests and virgin bogs of the Pohorje Hills or through the Julian Alps, with 49 different mountain refuges.
The John Muir Way, Scotland, stretches from one coast to the other, from Helensburgh on the Firth of Clyde to Dunbar, Muir's birthplace, on the Firth of Forth. The 215 kilometer route can be completed in around 10 days, passing through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and some of Scotland's most underrated countryside.
Vikos Gorge and Mount Gamila, Zagoria, Greece is recommended for spectacular, uncrowded scenery where you can see rare specimens of wild deer hopping on the rock walls. The highlight is undoubtedly the Vikos Gorge, which, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is the deepest gorge in the world in relation to its width.

The Apuseni Mountains are the seventh recommendation of the American publication. The Apuseni Mountains in western Romania, part of the Carpathian chain, offer a glimpse into a part of Europe where time still moves slowly and the way of life is steeped in tradition, CNN reports.
As the cited source notes, walking through the majestic hills and seemingly endless forests, peregrine falcons can be seen circling the thermals above, while the tracks of European wolves and brown bears indicate the presence of some of the most elusive creatures of the continent.
