In the new episodes, the experts of Salvamont, Vodafone and Mountain Adventure, one of the most important operators of mountain experiences in Romania, offer valuable information about the preparation of the route and the equipment suitable for mountain hiking and useful tips for avoiding the possible dangers that can be encountered on journey

The three new video materials made by the Oxygen agency and the producer Dragoș Asaftei are now available online, on Vodafone Romania’s social media platforms or directly here.

“From the beginning of 2024 until now, the Salvamont teams have intervened in more than 4,000 rescue operations, the main cause being the overestimation of their own strength and specific knowledge or the wrong choice of the route that the tourists proposed.”Sabin Cornoiu, President of Salvamont Romania.

“Technological innovations have always been the key to the partnership we have with Salvamont, already for 20 years. The innovative project we implemented, once again demonstrated that using search and rescue drones, we can make the difference between life and death. Another important resource is the ‘Salvamont’ application, through which users can share the location with the dispatcher.” Ciprian Zamfirescu, Head of Innovation and Business Development Vodafone Romania.

Also, the latest generation drones, developed by Vodafone Romania and made available to mountain rescuers, are able, through thermal imaging, to identify victims in hard-to-reach places. In addition, transport drones send them water, food, medical kits and devices, and radio stations, useful until rescuers arrive.

Romania is the first country in Europe with national coverage for the Artificial Intelligence application, which detects human clues in photos. Vodafone has also developed the first drone that can create a signal on the mountain – 4G/5G coverage – in a few seconds within a radius of up to 10 km and that comes to the aid of victims, regardless of the network they are on.

The protagonists of #SigurPeMunte are mountain experts who share their experience and knowledge regarding safety on the mountain, regardless of the season: Sabin Cornoiu – president of Salvamont and Daniel Ignătescu – AGMR mountain guide and founder of Mountain Adventure. They are joined by Ciprian Zamfirescu, Head of Innovation and Business Development Vodafone Romania, who demonstrates how Vodafone technology makes a difference in cases of mounted rescue.

Starting with 2019, Vodafone is Salvamont’s technology partner, getting involved in projects that use technology in mountain rescue activity. Vodafone contributed to the establishment of the National Salvamont Dispatch and the creation of the “Salvamont” application, through which tourists can find out detailed information about the condition of the trails throughout the country, receive mountain warnings, view mountain maps, find the locations of the cabins and send notifications to the Salvamont dispatch – in real time , with the SOS function

From 2023, over 85% of Salvamont Romania teams use drones and Vodafone technology in mountain rescue missions. They help to significantly reduce the time it takes to search for victims and save more lives. In addition, Salvamont Romania benefits from Vodafone and the first underwater digital sonar detector – AquaEye VODASAFE, the Water Rescue Buoy robot (FReD: Fast Rescue Device), its own underwater drone and a scuba jet to reach hard-to-reach places underwater.
