The national evaluations at the end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th grades start on Monday

The national evaluations at the end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th grades in the 2023-2024 school year begin on Monday, according to the calendar approved by the Ministry of Education.

Between May 13 – 29, the national assessment session at the end of the 2nd, 4th and 6th grades in the 2023 – 2024 school year is scheduled, which addresses a number of over 500,000 students (cumulative), announced, on Sunday, the Ministry of Education in a press release, writes Agerpres.

Thus, the assessment of fundamental skills at the end of the 2nd grade begins on Monday with the Language and Communication – Written – Romanian Language test, respectively the Language and Communication – Written – Mother Tongue test for students belonging to national minorities.

On Tuesday, 2nd grade students will take the Language and Communication – Reading – Romanian Language test, and on Wednesday students belonging to national minorities will take the Language and Communication – Reading – Mother Tongue test.

The test in mathematics and natural sciences will take place on Thursday, while on Friday the last test will take place within EN II (Language and communication – writing-reading – Romanian language for national minorities), taken by students belonging to national minorities.

The evaluation of the fundamental skills acquired in the primary cycle (at the end of the IVth grade/EN IV) has the following calendar: Romanian language (May 21), mathematics (May 22) and mother tongue (May 23).

The calendar for administering the national assessment at the end of the 6th grade (EN VI) has the following configuration: May 28 – Language and communication, respectively May 29 – mathematics and natural sciences.

“The tests have a structure and evaluation characteristics similar to those administered in previous years. The tests are developed by the National Center for Policies and Evaluation in Education (CNPEE), have a format similar to international evaluations and involve an average level of difficulty,” it is shown in the press release.

The duration allocated to solving is 30 minutes for each administered test (EN II), respectively 60 minutes for each administered test (EN IV and EN VI).

The tests are evaluated within the educational units by the evaluation commissions established at their level, within no more than seven days from the date of the last test.

“As a new element for the administration and valorization of the recorded results, the collection of data resulting from the evaluation of written tests will be carried out with the help of a new digital application. This will allow, on the one hand, the collection of data in safe conditions and optimized quality control and, on the other hand, it will give the assessment committees access to their own assessment data and allow their quick and flexible use. a shorter time”states the Ministry of Education.

The individual results obtained in these evaluations are not displayed/communicated publicly and are not recorded in the class catalog.

According to the ministry, the reports generated at the educational unit level based on these results provide “statistical arguments of maximum importance and relevance” for the construction of measures to capitalize on the results recorded at these national assessments, measures “focused” at the level of the educational unit and for the beneficiaries of educational services: students, parents/guardians, teaching staff, educational support staff, etc.
