Many Romanians chose Greece as a holiday destination, attracted by the accessible resorts, the beaches with fine sand and the historical and picturesque places. Paradoxically, besides the wasps, some of the Romanians played at home have found another reason for dissatisfaction: the large number of Romanian tourists.

Famous for its beaches, Thassos Island has remained the most popular destination for Romanians who preferred the holidays in Greece.
Greece, Romanian holiday destination
Many Romanian tourists spent a few days in the Halkidiki peninsula, with his three arms-Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos.
Others have chosen the island of Lefkada, located about 1,000 kilometers from Romania and related to the continent through a bridge, often described as the Ionian Sea jewel. Santorini was also in the preferences of tourists, attracted by his spectacular landscapes and his unmistakable architecture.
Thousands of Romanians have shared their experiences in Greece on social networks. Some praised the good food, the clean water, the fine sandy beaches and the hospitality of the locals, while others appreciated the affordable prices and the relatively short distance from Romania. Many have illustrated their stories with numerous images from the places visited.
But not everyone returned thanks to the holiday. Some tourists blamed the wasp for the broken leave, others complained about the attitude of the locals, and some claimed that on the Greek beaches they met “too many Romanians”.
The wasps, the nightmare of the Romanians
Some Romanians claimed the wasps in the top of the things that dissatisfied them during the Greek vacation.
“They are terrible, except for private places where, of course, they have given an insecticide. Both myself and my wife were stuck by wasps”writes a tourist return from Thassos, on the Reddit platform.
Another Romanian said, in his turn, that he managed to get used to the presence of insects.
“I am still here, in Thassos. They are beautiful beaches, a little world, without lounge fees, the leave is perfect. They are bees and wasps, annoying when you are at the tavern, but it is not something to be scared. I saw much worse in the summer in Durău, a few years ago,” he remembers.
Someone else claims that wasps have two periods in which they appear more often: in the morning, between 7 and 10, and in the evening, after 7 pm.
“Otherwise, you can stay quiet, you can eat what you want on the beach, only with a little care and so”, he concludes.
The wasps remained in the memory of many Romanians who went on leave on the beaches of Thassos.
“It was full of wasps everywhere. You couldn’t eat on a terrace, on some beaches you had nowhere to step on them.” says another Romanian.
Another Romanian tells that, although he felt good on the eight days spent with the family on the island of Thassos, he was stuck by wasps.
“There is a problem with wasps on any terrace or restaurant. They often put small trays with something burnt to keep them away. On the beach, if you take your chips, sweets, sandwiches or other snacks, I don’t know how, but immediately a wasp next to you,” he states, on a social network.
Other Romanians say they asked for smokers to chase away the wasps or chose places where there were nets and curtains that kept them away. A Romanian said that he managed to convince them, finally, not to buzz, in a tavern.
“We put them their plate: on an empty plate I left a few pieces of meat and made their menders only around it.” he says.
The car trip can be a “trap”
Some tourists who have traveled by car to Greece recommends enthusiasts to plan their journey and take into account the vignettes for the transit of Bulgaria and the road taxes in Greece.
A road from Romania to the peninsula generally means a half -day trip, but it can be longer, so stops for rest or even an intermediate night can make the holiday route easier.
The flight with the plane is the shorter and less tiring alternative, say the tourists convinced that they did not make a too inspired choice starting on the road to Greece by car.
“I made three roads to Greece so far, in Thassos and Halkidiki, and it was even beautiful the first two trips, because everything was new. The third time, but I had no desire to see the same things on the road and, to be the complete silence, I also caught an accident to Ruse, on my return, where I had a time. I left an hour earlier.said a Romanian returned from Greece.
Romanians, upset by Romanians
The most unusual dissatisfaction of the Romanians who arrived in Greece is the large number of nationals who spend their holidays here.
“Good prices, beautiful beaches, clear and clean waters. I did not have any inconvenience, besides the fact that there are many Romanians. The island of Romanian tourists. Most cars are from Romania, and the language you hear most often is Romanian”, observes a Romanian returned from Thassos Island.
Some argue that Romanian tourists have contributed to dirty beaches, to increase the number of crimes, especially to car breaking, but also to increasing prices from Greece resorts.
“Thassos is a magnificent island. Unfortunately, the Romanian” entrepreneurs “began to have quite a lot of pensions and taverns. Therefore, the prices have increased, and the quality of the services has decreased. It was different 7-8 years ago. Now it is to be avoided. Better go to the south or on another island.believes a Romanian.
Instead, other travelers say that such notifications are not justified.
“To say that there are too many Romanians in Greece is as if you were in traffic with the car and you complain that there are too many cars, forgetting that you are in one of them.” another tourist believes.
