The partial lunar eclipse on September 17/18 can also be seen from Romania. From where it can be observed

Specialists from the “Amiral Vasile Urseanu” Astronomical Observatory in Bucharest announce that the partial lunar eclipse on September 17/18 can also be seen from Romania.

On the night of September 17 to 18 (Tuesday to Wednesday) there is a partial eclipse of the Moon, when it will be on the border between the constellations Aquarius and Pisces, and on September 18 we have the Full Moon phase at 05 h 34 m (time for Bucharest). Throughout the night, the planet Saturn will be to the right of the moon.

According to astronomers, the eclipse is visible in Romania in Bucharest, but also in other locations in the country.

The phenomenon begins with the entry of the Moon into the penumbra, at 03 h 39 m (September 18). At that time, the Moon will be quite low in the sky to the southwest. Because the Earth’s penumbra is not very opaque, at the beginning of the phenomenon the color of the Moon will not change much. Near the maximum phase of the partial lunar eclipse, starting at 05:30 (September 18), the upper part of the Moon will start to have a different color than the lower part, writes Agerpres.

The maximum phase of the lunar eclipse is at 05 h 44 m (Bucharest time), towards morning, when the Moon will be in the penumbra and approximately 4% in the Earth’s shadow. At that time, the Moon will be very low in the sky, towards the southwest horizon. After the maximum phase period, the Moon will regain its brightness and color, coming out of the shadow completely at 06:16 a.m., and from the penumbra at 07:05 a.m., according to the “Amiral Vasile Urseanu” Astronomical Observatory in Bucharest.

The next lunar eclipse (total) will be partially visible from Romania (the Moon sets before the maximum phase) and will occur on March 14, 2025.

The oldest recorded lunar eclipse occurred in 3450 BC In ancient cultures, when an eclipse occurred, people said that the Sun and Moon were swallowed by a dragon or dragon. In Romanian folk tales, dragons and dragons were replaced by werewolves.
