“I do not support the administration of the cannabis of patients in the classical form”

The technical discussion on Wednesday was attended by specialists in the field: Prof. Dr. Dorel Săndesc – president of the ATI commission from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tiberius Marius Brădățan – Secretary of State – Ministry of Health, Dr. Gabriel Diaconu, Dr. Radu Tincu, Răzvan Prisada – the president of the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, Dr. Cătălina Constantin – National Mental Health and Anti -Drug Center, as well as representatives of the Anti -Drug Service within the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police and representatives of the National Anti -Drug Agency.

“From the beginning, we have emphasized an essential aspect: we must make a clear and responsible distinction between the pharmaceutical products containing biologically active molecules extracted from cannabis and the plant itself. As a doctor and chairman of the Health and Family Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, I want to be very clear that I do not recommend and do not encourage cannabis consumption and do not support its administration to patients in the classical form (smoking inhalation)“Rogobete said.

“Commercial interests use patient suffering to achieve their own goals.”

According to the President of the Health Commission, use of cannabis plant for medical purposes, “But by administration in classical form (inhalation by smoking) it is only a demagogic pretext”

Alexandru Rogobete explained and what he claims:

“If we talk about pharmaceutical preparations containing active molecules in cannabis, such as THC or CBD, which have been tested by rigorous clinical studies and are approved by international institutions such as FDA and EMA and can be administered and monitored in hospitals – then we can have an argued medical point of view. Unfortunately, I noticed that sometimes political demagogy, lack of medical knowledge and commercial interests use patient suffering to achieve their own goals. Objectives that have nothing to do with the patient’s good! ”.

The parliamentarian says that the debate on the use of cannabis for medical purposes must be “uNa -based science, not populism!”Explaining to support “A clear legislative framework and a responsible medical approach, so that patients in need Innovative treatments to be able to access them safely ”.

“I will continue to support any measure that is for the real benefit of patients, but without transforming this topic into a pretext for other hidden agendas.”said Alexandru Rogobete.
