New charges of USR made by PSD senators leader

The statements of the PSD senator Daniel Zamfir deepen the political crisis in the ruling coalition, after he launched a harsh attack on the USR partners, accusing them of violating the law and boycotted the executive’s decision on the state funerals of former president Ion Iliescu. Zamfir stressed that, following the incident, the PSD will request that no draft or decision within the government be adopted without the consensus of its formation.

It is not about giving a vote (at Monday meeting) about staying in government or not. I do not hide that many colleagues were outraged by the position of USR in compliance with the law on the funerals of President Iliescu, who were state funerals. That was the Government’s decision. The fact that some members of the Government, I think, act against a Government decision seems to me to be unacceptable. No one forced the USR members to come to pay tribute to Iliescu. By far, we did not expect this, but to have such an attitude about what the Government of Romania decided …

I repeat, you do not have to love Iliescu, you do not have to go to his catapult, but you must respect a decision of the Government of Romania and especially the law.

The fact that the USR, beyond the fact that they did everything they could to boycott such an action, respecting the law, means that the USRs are far from being a fair partner in this coalition. We want to discuss Monday whether such attitudes can be tolerated.

One of the decisions that we will surely make will be that no project, no decisions of this coalition will only be taken in consensus. No one comes to put on the table and we respect. That is clear! ”said PSD Senator Daniel Zamfir, for B1 TV.

From what did the huge tensions start from the coalition

The head of the USR, Dominic Fritz, publicly announced, in a Facebook post, that all the party representatives will not participate in the state funerals of the former head of state and that USR ministers have opposed, in the Government meeting, to the declaration of a national mourning day.

Out of respect for the victims of the revolution and the mining, the USR proposed in the government meeting not to be a national mourning. We take note of the Government’s decision. USR representatives will not participate in funerals”, Wrote Dominic Fritz.

Although the government has finally decided to declare a day of national mourning, USR ministers were totally against, considering such a measure.
