The reduction of excise duty on diesel fuel, removed from the agenda of the government meeting. What projects will be adopted by the Executive

The Government will approve the National Strategy of State Reserves for the period 2026-2030 in Thursday’s meeting, by decision. The project regarding the reduction of excise duty on diesel fuel was removed from the agenda.

The government met on Thursday, in session, to adopt some projects of interest. The most important of them, regarding the reduction of excise duty on diesel fuel, will not be discussed, being removed from the agenda after no solution was reached after discussions with specialists. Initially, it was discussed about reducing the excise tax by 15%, but the Executive is considering subsidizing the liter of diesel at the pump with 50 money.

The executive will also approve an emergency ordinance project for the modification of some normative acts in the field of social assistance and the establishment of social protection measures for pensioners.

A draft law will also be approved for the amendment and completion of GEO no. 32/2012 regarding collective investment bodies in securities and investment management companies, as well as for the amendment and completion of Law no. 297/2004 regarding the capital market, for the amendment and completion of Law no. 74/2015 regarding the administrators of alternative investment funds, as well as for the amendment and completion of Law no. 243/2019 regarding the regulation of alternative investment funds and for the modification and completion of some normative acts.

Through a decision, the Government will approve the fields and accredited master’s degree programs and the maximum number of students who can be enrolled in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Another draft decision aims to update the monthly rent rate (lei/m2) applied for residential spaces belonging to the public or private domain of the state or territorial administrative units, as well as for service homes, intervention homes and dormitories for employees of companies regulated by Law no. 31/1990, republished, with subsequent amendments and additions, of companies and national companies and of autonomous governments and for courtyards and gardens related to residential areas.

Also by decision, the Executive will amend HG no. 237/2022 regarding the organization and functioning of the Romanian Customs Authority and for the modification of point 1 from letter C of annex no. 1 to HG no. 791 /2009 regarding the conditions for the certification of international civil airports or airports open to international air traffic.

The executive will also approve a memorandum with the theme of an agreement in principle regarding the contracting of repayable financial assistance from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for increasing the efficiency of the land improvement infrastructure.

Another memorandum concerns the adoption of urgent measures to ensure the continuity of the activities of the conservation stage at the uranium mining targets.

Another memorandum will approve the extension, for a new period of 6 months, between April 15, 2026 and October 15, 2026, of the validity of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova regarding the coordinated control on the territory of Romania at the state border crossing point Albiţa (Romania) – Leuşeni (Republic of Moldova) by road, on the way to enter Romania, signed on February 9, 2023 in Albiţa.

During the meeting, a series of information will be presented regarding the problems encountered regarding the implementation of the commitments from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) by the line ministries.
