The Romanian Academy Awards, awarded on Wednesday. Who are the laureates?

The Romanian Academy will award on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the prizes for the most valuable scientific and artistic creations made in 2023. The event will take place in the Aula of the Romanian Academy, starting at 10 a.m., in the presence of the members of the General Assembly.

Actress Dorina Lazăr, poet and publisher Nicolae Tzone, prose writer and essayist Ioana Drăgan, university professor Dragoş Iliescu and foreign policy analyst Iulian Chifu are among the laureates of the Romanian Academy Awards for 2023, according to Agerpres.

According to the regulations, the prizes are awarded within the 14 scientific sections of the Romanian Academy, namely: literature and philology, history, mathematics, physics, chemistry, technical sciences, geonomic sciences, information technology, biology, medicine, agronomy, forestry, economic and legal sciences, sociology, psychology, philosophy, theology, plastic arts, theater and music.

Who are the laureates?

In the Arts, Architecture and Audiovisual/Performing Arts section, the “Aristizza Romanescu” Award was awarded to the actress Dorina Lazăr, for the role of the Writer Ula Richter in the play “Anxiety” by Ivan Vîrîpaev, directed by Bobi Pricop;

In the Philology and Literature section – the “Ion Creangă” Prize went to the prose writer and essayist Ioana Drăgan, for the novel “In search of unhappiness”, in the same section the “Mihai Eminescu” Prize went to the poet and publisher Nicolae Tzone, for the volume “Zece elegii”;

In the Philosophy, Theology, Psychology and Pedagogy section, the “Ion Petrovici” Prize was awarded to university professor Dragoş Iliescu, for the paper “Standardized testing in education”; at the same section, the “Vasile Conta” Award was awarded by Iulian Chifu, Greg Simons (England), for the paper “Rethinking Warfare in the 21st Century. The Influence and Effects of the Politics, Information and Communication Mix”.

In this edition, the “Lucian Blaga” Prize, the “Eudoxiu Hurmuzaki” Prize, the “Spiru Haret” Prize, the “Dimitrie Pompeiu” Prize, the “Emil Racoviţă” Prize, the “Grigore Cobălcescu” Prize, the “Simion Mehedinţi” Prize, the “Aurel Vlaicu” Prize, the “Henri Coandă” Prize, the “Anghel Saligny” Prize, the “Nicolae Titulescu” Prize, the “Andrei” Prize were not awarded. Rădulescu”, the “Dumitru Stăniloae” Award, the “Grigore Moisil” Award – in collaboration with the Mathematical Sciences Section and the “Mihai Drăgănescu” Award.

The ceremony will take place in the Aula of the Romanian Academy, from 10:00, in the presence of the members of the General Assembly, the event being broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the academic forum.

During the event, the Romanian Academy will award two “Academic Merit” diplomas (for the Mathematical Sciences Society of Romania, on the occasion of its 115th anniversary and the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice, on the occasion of its 95th anniversary) and four “Cultural Distinction” diplomas (for the “Lucia Condrea” Egg Museum from Moldoviţa, for the contribution to the preservation and promotion of Romanian traditions; Eugenia Vodă, for the promotion of Romanian culture through the “Professionals” show for 25 years; Radio România Actualită, for the consistent coverage of the most significant events organized by the Romanian Academy and for the meeting of the listeners with the most important cultural people of Romania, including the members of the Romanian Academy and Florin Andreescu, for the set of photographic works representing cultural, historical, urban and natural values of Romania).
