Italian tennis player Jasmine Paolini defeated Russian Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-1 on Thursday to advance to the Grand Slam final at Roland Garros, where she will meet Poland's Iga Swiatek, the no. a global one.

Jasmine Paolini, ranked 15th in the world, aged 28, easily won the surprising semi-final with Mirra Andreeva, ranked 38th WTA, who is only 17 years old. For the two players, it was the first appearance in a Grand Slam semifinal.
In the quarters, Paolini eliminated Kazakhstan's Elena Rîbakina, ranked 4th in the world, in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. In the same phase of the competition, Andreeva defeated the Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, world number 2, also in three sets, 6-7 (5/7), 6-4, 6-4.

Swiatek has won the Roland Garros tournament three times, in 2020, 2022 and 2023, and has a US Open win in 2022. Gauff, victorious at the 2023 US Open, was defeated by Swiatek in the final at Roland Garros Garros in 2022.
