The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announces the end of the period of candidates for the scholarship program offered by the Government of Romania to the citizens outside the European Union space and who are not Romanian ethnic.

The scholarships are offered on the basis of the Decision of the Government of Romania no. 288/1993 regarding the schooling in Romania of citizens from other countries.
A record number of 86,204 candidates, from over 150 countries, responded to the call launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The number marks an increase compared to the previous academic years, when the candidacy files received were 959 for the 2020-2021 academic year, 4,593 (for 2021-2022), 44,733 (for 2022-2023), 50,858 (for 2023-2024) and 81,914 (for 2024-2025).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs transmits that the selection process will take place in the next period, and the final results will be announced around June 30. The selected candidates will benefit from financial support during the studies, having the opportunity to follow license, master or doctoral programs in prestigious university centers and will be prepared in a wide range of fields.
In order to promote the Romanian language and culture, for the candidates who do not know the Romanian language, a preparatory year for the study of the Romanian language is granted, before the university studies itself. Exceptions are the doctoral scholars who opted for the form of education in a foreign language set by the doctoral school.

The annual scholarship program offered by the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is addressed to citizens from states outside the European Union space. The program is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and with the support of the executive unit for the financing of higher education, research, development and innovation (UEFISCDI) within the Ministry of Education, which has developed and manages the Studyinromania computer platform.
