The Senate adopted a draft law on the control of drugs containing narcotic and psychotropic substances

The senators adopted, on Monday, November 4 this year, a project initiated by the Government regarding the need to put under control some drugs that contain narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as the identification by the Drug Analysis and Profile Laboratory of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police of of some substances in the samples obtained from drug seizures.

PSD Senator Robert Cazanciuc claimed, in plenary, that this draft law will give the Police and DIICOT a more effective tool in the fight against drugs, according to Agerpres.

“This Government bill is part of a wider battle that we must all wage, as a society, against drug trafficking and illicit consumption. We have, on the one hand, the treatment of young people who, unfortunately, end up to consume drugs as patients and not as criminals, on the other hand, we must give a stronger, more appropriate tool to the Police and DIICOT to deal with those who produce prohibited substances time, let’s put on a list these substances that have destructive effects on those who end up consuming them. It’s just a tool that the Police will have at hand to be more effective in this battle against drugs”Cazanciuc transmitted.

The adopted draft law completes annex tables no. I – III to Law no. 143/2000 on preventing and combating drug trafficking and illicit drug consumption. It is to be debated and voted on in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in this case.
