The curriculum is now focused on profile subjects, and 12th grade students come to school only three days a week and focus on Baccalaureate subjects, according to ProTV News.

The children are more attentive, the number of absences has decreased and the exam results are exceptional.

The college also has a relaxation corner, like in private schools, where students like to stay during breaks, relax, chat or prepare for the next lesson.

The project, initiated in 2021 by the directors of the high school, is focused on the needs of students. The 11th graders will study throughout the year the subjects specific to the chosen profile.

Subjects that do not represent a test at the Baccalaureate are alternated.

In mathematics-informatics classes, for example History is done in the first 18 weeks of the school year or in the last 18.

In the half year when they don’t have history, the students do geography.

In the last year of high school, the program changes.

“I started from something outside”

Starting in March, 12th grade students come to school only three days a week, during which they are only present for the classes that prepare them for the Baccalaureate exam.

Students from the human profile, for example, will participate in the classes of the Romanian language and literature, history, English, and, each separately, in the subject for which they are preparing for the optional test. All other classes are conducted online.

“We found out towards the end of the school year that the children were also taking medical exemptions, that they were not coming to school, that they needed to take care of something else. They need to study intensively something else. I started from something outside”said Ionela Neagoe, director of the Gheorghe Lazăr National College, according to ProTV News

The Gheorghe Lazăr College will receive European funds through PNRR for the creation of a platform in which the educational offers of the universities will be brought together, and in the coming years, student volunteers are also expected to guide the students.
