One of the most interesting presences at BIAS 2024 is Andreea Bănesaru, a 24-year-old female pilot, specialized in aerial acrobatics. Andreea is the only female pilot from us in the country, a member of the Romanian aerobatic team. Her story is impressive, especially since she started piloting at a young age, managing to establish herself quickly in the world of Romanian aviation. Her dream is to become an airline pilot.
“My dream was to become an airline pilot”
Andreea Bănesaru always dreamed of becoming a pilot, being attracted to flying and flying machines. “I wanted to become a line pilot at the beginning, when I didn’t know about this sports side.”Andreea specified in an interview for “Gândul”. With this dream, she started flying lessons at only 16 years old, encouraged by her parents. He took free lessons offered by the Romanian Aeroclub. A very fast evolution followed, Andreea Bănesaru being a talented pilot. At only 19, he was already offering flying lessons as a licensed instructor. She had students who were twice her age. “I have students between the ages of 16 and 50. Indeed, at 19, when I became a flight instructor, I was a little afraid of older people like myself. I expected him not to take me seriously, but it was not at all what I expected. I have very good students and I managed with them”Andreea stated for the same publication.
The only female pilot in the Romanian aerobatic team
Andreea has not yet fulfilled her dream of becoming an airline pilot, but she got a taste for aerial acrobatics. He discovered his talent and passion and now he is preparing for the big performance. She is the only woman in Romania’s acrobatics team, “Romania Falcons”. He discovered his passion for acrobatics four years ago. Since then he fell in love with acrobatics and trains as much as possible. ” If it’s during the week, I wake up in the morning, eat something and then call the students to the flight. I have daily, hourly appointments with my students. If it’s a flying day for aerobatic training, it’s a bit more complex there, because we come to the airfield, we have a briefing with our manager, who gives us the order to fly.”says Andreea Bănesaru for “Gândul”.
After the briefing with the manager, there is a program that the aerobatic pilots repeat on the ground. In the end they wait for each other, and after the flight they take stock of the mistakes and see how they can correct them. Everything ends with a flight debriefing. Andreea participated in the first BIAS in 2022, with the “Romania Falcons” team. This year, Andreea will participate in her first European acrobatics championship, which will take place in Clinceni. The young woman did not give up her dream of becoming an airline pilot, but also her dream of participating in as many national and international acrobatic shows as possible.
