The Romanian Government approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, the attestation of nine localities as areas with tourist resources: Ciceu commune (Harghita county), Tămășeu commune (Bihor county), Bozioru commune (Buzău county), commune Măgirești (Bacău county), Valcău de Jos commune (Sălaj county), Abrud town and Sohodol commune (Alba county), Ormeniș commune (Brașov county) and Bistreț commune (Dolj county).
This decision allows these localities to more easily attract European funds for the development of touristic, technical and environmental protection infrastructure, by promoting projects within national, regional and county development programs.
The commune with the most rock settlements
The Bozioru area is known for its unique landscapes, with hills, forests and picturesque valleys, which offer opportunities for hiking, excursions and outdoor activities. The commune is famous for several tourist attractions of natural, historical and cultural interest.
The Nucu Rock Settlements are a complex of cells and churches dug into the rock, dating from the IV-X centuries. They are known for their rock inscriptions and drawings that offer a glimpse into the area's spiritual past.

Attested only in the 16th century, when they began to be inhabited by hermits or used as churches, the stone settlements date from the Bronze Age, at that time serving as shelters and places of worship. Pre-Christian symbols, Cyrillic inscriptions and crosses can be seen on some of the rocks. Access to the group of 30 cave settlements is through the village of Nucu, Bozioru.
Babele from Ulmet, spectacular rock formations, are often compared to those from Babele from Bucegi, but on a smaller scale. They are the result of erosion and offer a special landscape.

Babele from Ulmet is located 50 kilometers from the city of Buzau. The rock formation is on an isolated sand plateau. Some of the rocks are perfectly oval, and others are shaped like flying saucers. The tallest among the babes from Ulmet is two meters.
These objectives make Bozioru commune an attractive destination for tourists who want to explore the natural and historical beauties of Buzau county.
