The Tinmar Foundation announces the awarding of merit scholarships worth 500 euros to 1,530 high school students from Gorj County, who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance.
Part of the “Education for the Future – Tinmar Foundation Scholarships” program, the initiative supports the foundation’s commitment to providing educational opportunities in regions facing economic and social challenges.
The award ceremony took place at Spiru Haret National College – Amphitheater Hall in Târgu Jiu, where students, teachers and local community leaders gathered to celebrate the success of these outstanding children.
Education is essential to create opportunities that can reduce the migration of young people to big cities or out of the country. Through constant investments in education, we stimulate local development by increasing the level of skills and the number of qualified young people, ready to contribute to the regional economy. At the same time, a fairer society is created, where students in rural and urban areas have access to the same educational resources, and the spirit of community is strengthened, as educated young people tend to become local leaders and actively contribute to public life.
“Education is the cornerstone of a healthy and prosperous society. In the current context, in which Romania faces multiple economic and social challenges, supporting talented young people is not only a responsibility, but also an opportunity to build a better future for all of us. Through these scholarships, we not only recognize the efforts and determination of these students, but also offer them the necessary support to turn their dreams into reality and to contribute to Romania’s development,” said Filip Ovidiu, vice-president of the TINMAR Foundation. “This initiative reflects our commitment to social responsibility and desire to support sustainable growth through education.”
In Romania, the school dropout rate remains a major challenge, affecting especially rural areas and communities with limited economic resources. The lack of access to adequate educational resources, the financial difficulties of families and internal migration contribute significantly to the growth of this phenomenon. “Education for the Future – Tinmar Foundation Scholarships” provides a concrete example of how investing in education can reduce the risks associated with dropping out of school. Through financial support and performance recognition, the foundation aims to inspire students to continue their educational journey,
This program is part of the Tinmar Foundation’s strategy to support education and community development at the national level, while promoting equal opportunities for all students, regardless of the socio-economic background they come from. Also, the program supports the training of new generations of leaders who will contribute to the sustainable development of Romania.
