The truth Live from 13.00: Stereotaxic radiotherapy, a high-precision approach to cancer treatment

Stereotaxic radiotherapy is a treatment method that uses highly concentrated radiation to destroy cancer cells. Unlike conventional radiation therapy, which can also affect the healthy tissues surrounding the tumor, stereotaxic radiation therapy focuses radiation exactly on the tumor, ensuring the destruction of malignant cells.

It is frequently used in the treatment of lung, liver, pancreatic cancer, as well as brain metastases. The efficiency of this method is due to the high precision and the ability to administer high doses of radiation in a small number of sessions.

One of the main advantages of stereotaxic radiotherapy is the shorter duration of treatment compared to conventional radiotherapy. Also, the high precision of radiation reduces the risk of damage to healthy tissues, thus minimizing side effects and speeding up the patient’s recovery process.

In order to better understand this technique, we invited Dr. Matei Bâră, head of the Radiotherapy Department at the SANADOR Oncological Center, to the Adevărul Live studio.
