UNITER is organizing the 34th edition of the UNITER Awards Gala, hosted by the Odeon Theater, on Monday, May 25, from 8 p.m. The event, considered the most important celebration of Romanian theatre, will be broadcast live on the official platforms of the organizers and on TVR 1, TVR Cultural, TVR+, tvr.ro and Radio Romania Cultural.
Until Sunday, May 24, the public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists on UNITER’s official website, in the “Public Vote” section.
This year’s gala speaks of the fragility and vulnerability of culture, but also of its strength to endure in difficult times. The organizers remind that the UNITER trophy, created by the artist Ion Bițan 36 years ago, is inspired by the image of a book saved from the flames during the 1989 Revolution.
“For us, this symbol speaks to the survival of culture in difficult times and the need to protect what keeps us human,” send UNITER representatives.
Starting at 19:00, the organizers will broadcast LIVE the arrival of the artists on the red carpet, as well as their statements, in interviews conducted by the artist Răzvan Omotă.
The Gala performance bears the signature of Răzvan Mazilu, responsible for directing, and set designer Dragoș Buhagiar. The musical moments will be supported by countertenor Valer Săbăduș, accompanied by musicians from the George Enescu Philharmonic.
The 2026 edition includes 16 award categories, five awards for the entire activity, an excellence award, four special awards, a tribute award to the actor Victor Rebengiuc and the President’s Award.
