Admission to the University of Medicine in Iasi registered a negative record, with entrance notes that went down to 5.14. Teachers explain the weak results through the effects of pandemic on students’ training, but claim that future doctors and assistants can recover throughout.

The admission to medicine has registered this year the smallest average in recent years, with entrance notes that have even descended up to 5.14 in some university centers. While some candidates started training for the examination from the first years of high school, the results obtained did not always reflect the effort.
At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Grigore T. Popa” in Iași, the competition varied according to the specialization.
At Medicine, where there were two candidates in one place, the last average of admission to the budget was 7.90. In contrast, at general medical care, the competition was lower, and the notes obtained by the candidates stopped at 5.14. The specialization of dental medicine attracted the most wishers, but here it was taxed even with the average of 5.40, according to ProTV.
Although the thought that some of the future doctors or nurses have been admitted to medicine with extremely small environments is not very encouraging, UMF Iași leadership believes that weak results can be recovered during college.
“I found that the average of admission, the first average and last average, were somewhat below. Most of them finished high school this year and they took the pandemic period, high school. I have no other explanation. There are some 5 and something. Let’s worry about this generation of assistants or dentists? No, no. They have all the possibilities that during the faculty,” said prof. Viorel Scripcariu, the rector of UMF Iași.
In Bucharest, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila”, the competition was higher, with three candidates on one place, and in Cluj, the last average entry to the budget was 0.25 points below the level of last year.
Those who have been admitted to the places with a tax will pay, according to the university and specialization, up to 19,000 lei per year to follow their studies in the medical field.
