Julie McFadden, a nurse at the Hospice, told the dailymail that “Thank you”, “I forgive you”, “please forgive me”, “it’s okay” and “goodbye”, “I’m ready”, are the words most often used on the deathbed.
McFadden was a registered nurse for over 15 years.
“Talking daily with people who are dying, most said they regretted not valuing health. Others say they didn’t appreciate simple things like: being able to see, be able to eat, swallow, walk, live without pain”said the nurse.
People also say that “he wished he hadn’t worked all his life”and women, in particular“I’m talking about diets.”
“They regret worrying about how their bodies look or not eating one thing or another because of diets and trying to look a certain way,” says the nurse.
Sometimes people go back to childhood.
“A lot of people say their parents’ names. Or they will say mom, dad or the name of an ex-husband who is already dead,” the nurse also testified.
Also, there are cases when patients give final advice to family members before they pass away, because they want their loved ones to have a happy and fulfilled life, free from worries.
