ANPC fined the company that delivered biscuits with worms to the Fundeni Clinical Institute in the Capital with an amount of 10,000 lei, and the provision of its services was temporarily stopped, until the problems are fixed, reports Agerpres.

“Following information that appeared in the public space regarding the non-conformities of some food products made available to patients, at the Fundeni Clinical Institute in the Capital, ANPC carried out a control action at the economic operator SC Hiper Ambrozia SRL, the supplier of these products. For the deviations to the legislation in force found by the ANPC commissioners, during the checks, several sanctions were applied: contravention fines in the amount of 10,000 lei; the definitive stop from the use/commercialization of non-compliant food products; the temporary stop of the provision of services, until the deficiencies are remedied ; closing the unit for a period of up to six months”it is stated in a press release from ANPC

Irregularities discovered by ANPC

The irregularities identified concerned the non-compliance with the storage temperature and the use of non-compliant containers for the storage of some of the ingredients, in which there were impurities and pieces of plastic material.

At the same time, ANPC found that the activity of the economic agent was carried out in improper technical and hygienic-sanitary conditions, such as the depreciated pavement, with chips, the cover of the ventilation system loaded with dust and grease; improperly insulated pipes; the ceiling with damaged areas, broken, with holes, with infiltrations; unhygienic pipes, with a thick layer of dust, rust and grease; uninsulated cables; side walls stained, with exfoliated plaster.

In addition, it was observed the use of an oven chamber with a thick layer of burnt fat (on the side walls, piping) but also the use of baking trays with a thick layer of burnt fat and non-hygienic shuttles, with a layer of dust and torn labels .

The inspectors were alerted, after a leukemia patient hospitalized at the Fundeni Clinical Institute in the Capital received biscuits with worms. The images, which were filmed and posted on the Internet, instantly went viral and sparked waves of anger and outrage.

Shortly after, the hospital’s management sent a statement that it had taken the necessary emergency measures in such cases and apologized for the incident.
