Actor Cillian Murphy will once again give life to the gangster Thomas Shelby in the movie “Peaky Blinders”. The film is directed by Tom Harper.
“It seems that Tommy Shelby is not done with me… It is very gratifying to collaborate again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film «Peaky Blinders». This is for the fans” Murphy said, according to the post made public on Tuesday, June 4 by Netflix on X.
“When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, I didn't know what the show would become, but I knew there was something about the chemistry between the cast and the script that seemed explosive. 'Peaky' has always been a story about family – so it's incredibly exciting to reunite with Steve and Cillian to bring the film to audiences around the world on NetflixTom Harper relayed.
The continuation of the saga, set on the streets of Birmingham in the 1900s, was written by series creator Steven Knight, who will co-produce alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
“I'm really excited that this movie is about to happen,” Knight said.
The film goes into production later this year and will be made in collaboration with BBC Film.
