Firefighters intervene to extinguish a fire of dry vegetation (stubble) on Olteniței Road, Popesti-Leordeni, Ilfov county.

UPDATE 17.26: The intervention device for the dry vegetation fire in Popeşti-Leordeni, on the Olteniţei Road, was resized, and eight special vehicles and one SMURD ambulance remained at the scene of the intervention.

“The trucks were supplied with water from the economic operators in the area. A total of 19 fire trucks, one truck with cylinders and a SMURD ambulance intervened. The affected area is three hectares of dry vegetation and a household inside which are stored several combustible materials, on an area of ​​approximately 500 square meters“, informs the press office of the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISUBIF).

Road traffic is temporarily stopped on DN 4, in the area of ​​Popeşti-Leordeni, Ilfov county, to allow the intervention of firefighters to extinguish the vegetation fire near the road, according to the Infotraffic Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.

According to the firemen, the fire manifests itself with an open flame and releases of large smoke and, due to the gusts of wind, it spread to a house and also affected a special vehicle.

Even though the truck was placed in a safe area, the wind can change its direction and this resulted in damage to it.

“The important thing is that the crew members are out of any danger, they have not suffered injuries or other ailments. In order to localize the flames and avoid the extension to the neighborhoods, the intervention forces were gradually supplemented, so that at this moment the Bucharest firefighters intervene with 12 special fire trucks and a SMURD ambulance”, according to ISU Ilfov

The firemen’s mission continued to locate and extinguish the fire that spread over an area of ​​3 ha.

A RO-ALERT message was also issued to inform the population.
