To reduce the risk of fire, it is important that food is not left unattended on the stove, gas installations are checked regularly and hood filters are cleaned of grease.

Here are some safety measures that can help you prevent the risk of fire in the kitchen:

Do not leave food unattended

Even a few minutes of inattention can lead to fires. Stay near the stove or oven when cooking.

Be careful of hot oil

Oils can catch fire very quickly at high temperatures. If a pan of oil catches fire, DO NOT use water to put it out! Cover it with a lid, wet towel or fire blanket.

Cleans the deposited grease

Fat deposits on the hood, stove or oven can be easily flammable.

Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen

Make sure you know how to use it. It is good to have it close at hand and to be checked periodically.

Check your stove and oven before you leave home

Make sure all hotplates and the oven are closed after you have finished cooking.

Keep flammable materials away

Towels, paper, napkins and other flammable objects must be kept at a safe distance from sources of fire.
