The students with the highest results in the National Assessment chose especially the mathematics-informatics classes from the top colleges. However, the distribution also revealed unexpected situations: more than 100 graduates with averages between 9 and 10 opted for the technological stream.
Most of the students with very good results in the National Assessment chose top theoretical high schools and specializations in the real area, especially mathematics and computer science.
In Bucharest, for example, the most sought-after specializations by students with excellent results were the math-info classes at “St. Sava” National College and “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College, where the last admitted students had an average of 9.70. In the next place was the same specialization from the “Spiru Haret” National College, where the last admission average was 9.67.
In the top 15 choices made by the students with the highest averages, real profile specializations still appear. The natural sciences classes at “Sfântul Sava” and “Gheorghe Lazar” are among the most sought after, while the humanities profiles appear only three times in this ranking.
The choice of the real profile is explained by the wider opportunities it offers after finishing high school.
“The real profile is the one that offers the child more possibilities towards the same profile, but at the same time you can calmly orient yourself towards the right. The human profile is quite narrow. It is more difficult to make a move towards a faculty that requires strong knowledge of the real”, said Carmen Tănăsescu, director of the “Andrei Șaguna” National College from Brașov, for ProTV.
Few average 10’s and picks that break out of the pattern
This year, only eight students obtained an average of 10 in the National Assessment, compared to 85 in 2025. Three of them chose the “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College in Bucharest, and one was admitted to the “Grigore Moisil” National College. The others arrived at the colleges in Iași, Târgu Jiu, Târgu Mureș and Ploiești.
The distribution revealed, however, some atypical situations. More than 100 graduates with averages between 9 and 10 opted for the technological stream, while about 15,000 students with similar results chose theoretical high schools.
At the opposite pole, more than 3,000 students with averages below 5 were assigned to theoretical high schools, although the majority of graduates in this category, more than 21,000, chose technological education.
After the completion of the first, 126 secondary school graduates remained unassigned. According to the Minister of Education, they come from 21 counties and three sectors of the Capital and represent the smallest number in the last seven years.
Students who were not assigned will automatically participate in the second stage, scheduled after July 31.
