Anyone visiting European countries can post travel impressions and photos on the Overlanding Europe Facebook group. And this week’s post about Romania by the Czech tourist has gone viral, with over 30,000 likes and thousands of positive comments and shares.

Jolana Sedlackova spent almost a week in Romania with a group of friends from the Czech Republic, going along Transfăgărășan, Transalpina and also reaching the Vesel Cemetery in Săpânța, Maramureș, famous for the brightly colored grave crosses and the paintings representing scenes from the life and occupation of the buried people. On some crosses, verses are even written in which the respective persons are remembered, often with humorous nuances.

“We returned to Romania after seven years. A lot has changed since our last visit here! Road infrastructure it improved, and now, on the side of the roads, you can see many renovated houses and charming and very well preserved churches. There are fewer carts on the roads compared to the last time I was here. However, I felt that due to the increase in the standard of living, a part of Romania’s authenticity is gradually disappearing. Nevertheless, Romania has a special charm and remains one of the European countries with natural beauties and extremely well-preserved landscapes. We really enjoyed crossing more forests and mountains, swimming in rivers and even seeing more bears”says Jolana.

During the stay in Romania, the tourist from the Czech Republic and his friends also reached the Transalpina.

“Although the Transalpina is not as famous a road as the Transfăgărășanul, it also offers numerous absolutely fantastic views. But Transfăgărășanul remains categorically one of the most beautiful roads in the world”says Jolana Sedlackova.

The passionate tourist also met bears when she went to Transfăgărășan by car.

“The area near Transfăgărășan is one of the places where you can see bears in the wild. We saw a total of nine bears on the road. And we did not feed them, because we know that this is clearly forbidden”says the Czech tourist.
