After going through the ultimate test of trust and defeating all the temptations of “Love Island”, two former contestants made the big announcement: they are getting married in 2026 and have already chosen the date of the event.

While for some “Love Island” is where relationships fall apart under the pressure of temptation, for others it is where bonds grow even stronger. In the case of one of the most appreciated couples of the 9th season of 2025, Francesca Sarao and Cristi Pitulice, the experience lived in Thailand turned into a new beginning.
After proving to themselves that their love can overcome any obstacle, Francesca and Cristi made the announcement that fans had been waiting for months: they set the wedding date, which will be held in 2026.
“If you’re reading this, don’t panic, it’s not a paper ad. We’ve decided to stop sharing just the food…but the family name. Yes, (his) freedom is officially over. But don’t worry, we have compensation. Free stamps and bonus, a wedding. Save the date 5/22/2026.” the two wrote on social networks, sparking thousands of reactions and comments.
The announcement, made with humor and naturalness, was completed by the groom-to-be, who wanted to add:
“We’re starting the ‘forever’ chapter. We’re accepting advice, jokes and wedding survival tips & tricks.”
The “Island of Love” experience
Francesca Sarao and Cristi Pitulice stood out in the 9th season of the show by the sincerity and balance of their relationship. Away from the temptations of the island and prying eyes, they managed to prove that trust and respect can overcome challenges.
“Who would have ever thought that out of some joke entry I would win the lottery and have such an experience? An intense experience full of emotions on a level you can’t imagine. There were laughs, tears and I am extremely grateful and proud that I had the courage to go”, said Francesca, shortly before the broadcast of the finale.
The experience in Thailand was not without tense moments, but it was those moments that helped strengthen their bond. In one of the most emotional reunions of the season finale, the two met on the beach after 21 days apart and talked openly about mistakes, longing and regrets.
“You’re smarter and figured it out faster. I’m dumber and don’t know how to appreciate what I have at home.” Francesca said then, with tears in her eyes.
Cristi’s answer came in a warm and mature tone: “Listen to me! It’s very good that you stayed. I was selfish, baby, when I said I wanted to leave. Only because I thought it was just about realizing that I didn’t get to be together, to be the way we want to be, to enjoy our souls, you understand? I now found myself between four empty walls. I realized that money has no value. You can stay in villas of…hundreds of thousands. If you stay between four walls naked, no they have no value”.
