Two Romanian husbands were arrested by the Italian authorities, being accused of coordinating the activity of a network specialized in warehouse burglaries and the resale of stolen goods. The two, aged 47 and 50, were detained following an investigation by the Italian police.
The investigation began in 2024 and focused on several robberies, especially on logistics companies in northern Italy, but also failed attempts. According to the investigators, the total damage is estimated at hundreds of thousands of euros.
The group targeted logistics warehouses, considered safe targets due to the large quantities of stored goods. The thieves acted at night. They stole perfumes, cosmetics, refrigerators and other valuables, which they later stored in private vaults in Milan. The goods were then distributed through a network of accomplices and resold on the black market, according to the website Știri din diaspora.
The investigation revealed that the organization operated in a well-organized manner, with a “very high turnover” and a solid structure of theft and resale of goods, according to the carabinieri.
On January 19, 2026, the Carabinieri implemented the arrest warrant issued by a judge in Milan. The 50-year-old Romanian man was imprisoned, while the 47-year-old woman was placed under house arrest. Another suspect, aged 40, is still missing. Also, several people, Italian citizens and foreigners, are being investigated in a state of freedom for complicity in the resale of stolen goods.
The investigation was launched after a major theft, estimated at around 200,000 euros, committed on the night of November 2 to 3, 2024, at a logistics company near Milan. The thieves used a vehicle previously stolen from a courier company in Origgio, Varese province. The stolen products were later hidden in private boxes and distributed to accomplices for resale.
On December 8, 2024, the group attempted another robbery, this time at a toy and children’s goods company in Arcore, but the attempt failed. The network is also believed to be responsible for the theft of around 200 refrigerators from a logistics center in Landriano.
The images captured by the surveillance cameras near the targeted warehouses and cargo storage areas were decisive in identifying and catching the members of the network. According to the carabinieri in Milan, the group’s modus operandi was “systematic and organized”, and the stolen goods resale network was “well structured”.
