U Cluj and Metalul Buzău qualified for the quarter-finals of the Romanian Football Cup

Cluj University and Metalul Buzău qualified, on Wednesday evening, for the quarter-finals of the Romanian Football Cup, after winning at home, in Group C of the competition.

The University defeated Oțelul Galați 2-0, at the Cluj Arena, with the goals scored by Jovo Lukic (51) and Andrei Coubiș (66), the latter scoring his first goal for the “red caps”.

Metalul Buzău defeated Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe 1-0, at the Gloria Stadium in Buzău, in a match between two second league teams.

The only goal of the game was scored by Valentin Robu (35), who took advantage of a hesitation by goalkeeper Bogdan Ungureanu. Robu also missed a penalty (70), his shot being defended by Ungureanu.

The metal qualified for the quarters for the second year in a row.

In another match, FK Csikszereda outclassed third league team Sporting Liești, 5-0, at Oțelul Stadium in Galați.

Swedish striker Wilhelm Loeper scored his first goals for the Hammers (57, 67), and Hungarian Marton Eppel scored a hat-trick (76 – penalty, 82, 83).
