Not taken too seriously in view of the heavyweights of the championship (FCSB, CFR Cluj and Universitatea Craiova), the Universitatea Cluj football team, the leader of the Football Super League after 22 stages, announced on Tuesday, on its official website, the transfer of Issouf Macalou, Ivorian striker who has played for FC Sochaux in France’s third tier until now.

“FC Universitatea Cluj has reached an agreement with FC Sochaux for the transfer of the right-wing striker Issouf Macalou (26 years old)”, it is mentioned on the quoted website. The leader still relies on Thiam and Blănuță in attack.
Born in the Ivory Coast, Issouf Macalou also holds French citizenship. In his career so far, the striker has played only in France, with Sochaux B, Louhans-Cuiseaux, MDA Chasselay (now Goal FC), Valenciennes, Le Mans, Red Star and FC Sochaux.
In the current season, he has scored six times for FC Sochaux and provided an assist in third-tier and French Cup games.
This winter, Cluj University signed the goalkeeper Ștefan Lefter (Corvinul Hunedoara), the midfielder Andrei Artean (CFR Cluj), but also the Slovak midfielder Andrej Fabry (UTA), a transfer that will be valid, however, from the summer. “U” Cluj is sponsored by Cluj City Hall.
