Udrea comments on the Coldea case: The Master of the Handcuffs is leaving the DNA door. I hope it also leads to Kovesi's downfall

The former Minister of Tourism commented, on Sunday, in a post on a social network regarding the case of the two former SRI generals Florian Coldea and Dumitru Dumbravă, placed under judicial control by the DNA, in the case in which they are accused of influence peddling , stating that he hopes the investigation will lead to the downfall of European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kovesi.

After almost ten years, the Master of the Handcuffs is leaving the DNA door as, together with Kovesi, he took me out in February 2015, only without handcuffs!”, it is stated in a post on the Facebook page of the former Minister of Tourism, Elena Udrea, who is currently serving a 6-year prison sentence with execution, received in the “Gala Bute” file.

Elena Udrea also said that she hopes that the DNA investigation in the case of SRI generals Florian Coldea and Dumitru Dumbravă will lead to the fall of the European chief prosecutor Laura Codruța Kovesi.

I hope that by tearing down the pedestal on which the two generals stood and which will also lead to the downfall of Kovesi, JUSTICE will feel freed, and prosecutors and judges will have the courage to act and judge according to the law and their own conscience“, concludes the former minister.

Elena Udrea has been imprisoned since June 2022, after the Bulgarian authorities decided to extradite her.

The DNA announced on Friday, in a press release, that it indicted Florian Coldea, former first deputy director of the SRI, and General Dumitru Dumbravă, former head of the SRI, for influence peddling, and they were placed under judicial control on bail, with the prohibition to leave the territory of the country.

Florian Coldea, Dumitru Dumbravă and the lawyer Doru Trăilă are defendants in the file regarding the crimes of influence peddling and money laundering and they have 7 days to pay the bail of 500,000 lei each in order to remain under judicial control, but also a fourth the person.

“In the orders of the prosecutors it is stated that” in the period March 2023 – April 2024, three of the defendants (the two businessmen and the lawyer from the Bucharest Bar) allegedly demanded from a businessman (the witness in question) the sum of 700,000 euros plus VAT, in exchange for which it would be believed that he would have influence on some magistrates in some courts and that he could cause them to pronounce favorable judgments for the witness in a criminal case in which he was being tried. After several negotiations, the amount that would have been claimed by the defendants was reduced to 600,000 euros plus VAT, and it was determined that it would be remitted in three equal installments. In the context mentioned above, during the same period, the witness would have remitted to the three defendants a partial payment in the amount of approximately 100,000 euros“, it is stated in the report of the DNA prosecutors.

In this file, criminal proceedings are also carried out against other legal entities, regarding the commission of the crime of money laundering.
