Today, from 4:00 p.m., in Dusseldorf, the first match of the second round of matches of our group at Euro 2024 is played. The result is important for Edi Iordănescu’s national team in the perspective of qualifying for the round of 16 of the competition in Germany.

A win for Slovakia increases our chances of qualification quite a bit, even if we lose to Belgium tomorrow, provided we don’t do it by score. In the last stage, a X2 result in Ukraine – Belgium would take Romania to the round of 16 even if we lose to Slovakia, also by a close score.
In the event of a tie in the match between Ukraine and Slovakia, Romania’s chances remain high even in the event of a defeat against the “Red Devils” team. The scenario is less convenient for us, because, in the version in which the tricolors take zero points with Belgium and Slovakia, they will occupy the last place in the group if Ukraine beats Belgium in the last group game.
Ukraine’s victory complicates things in the group at Euro 2024
If the Ukrainians manage to beat Slovakia and Romania lose to Belgium, they are level on points before the decisive round. It would be the worst scenario for Edi Iordănescu’s players, because all four teams would have 3 points each, separated by goal difference. We will be eliminated in this case if we lose Slovakia in the last round, and Ukraine – Belgium ends X. Likewise, if we lose the meeting with De Bruyne and company, in the company of Slovaks we will draw, and Belgium draws with Ukraine.
Apart from these calculations, it is clear for us, so that we don’t have to wait for other results: a draw with Belgium or a victory with Slovakia would take us to the last eight of Euro 2024.
