Six theater performances will be presented, on Tuesday and Wednesday, on the stage of the “Nottara” Theater, as part of the 13th edition of the Multiart Festival for Detainees “Dana Cenuşa – Descătuşare pir culture”, which brings together artists and actors’ troupes -prisoners from Bucharest – Jilava, Bucharest – Rahova, Ploiesti – Târgşorul Nou, Timisoara, Vaslui and Craiova Detention Center.

The participating penitentiary units collaborated with nine directors, according to a press release from the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP) sent to Agerpres.
In this year’s edition of the festival, performances are included “Ninth step”, adaptation after Tom Ziegler, director Patricia Katona (Poliesti Penitentiary – Târgşorul Nou); “Recoveries”, author Radu Crăciun, directed by Alexandru Berceanu and Paul Pristavu (Bucharest-Jilava Penitentiary); “Freedom”authors and directors Marius Lupoian and Cristina Lupoian (Timişoara Penitentiary); “in time”authors and directors Anca Tecu and Laurenţiu Nicu (Craiova Detention Center); “12 angry people”, adaptation after Reginald Rose, directed by Onciu Lucian (Vaslui Penitentiary); “Salon no. 6”adaptation of AP Cehov’s short story, directed by Iulian Gliţă (Bucharest-Rahova Penitentiary), Nottara Theater informs.
The jury of the edition will consist of Andreea Neagoe, chief commissioner of penitentiary police – National Administration of Penitentiaries, actress Crenguţa Hariton, actor Gabriel Costea, and theater critics Monica Andronescu and Silvia Dumitrache.
At the beginning of the festival, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures made by people deprived of their liberty will be opened in units of the penitentiary system.
The event represents a good opportunity to get to know and demonstrate the creative potential of the inmates, the interpretation of the roles even having therapeutic values, recognized, moreover, in the field of psychodrama, the organizers state.
The festival is addressed, equally, to the detainees and the community, out of the desire to highlight the social mission of the penitentiary institution and the importance of rehabilitating people serving custodial sentences, emphasizes the ANP.
