Located two steps from Romania, Bulgaria is preferred by many due to the lower prices and the quality of services, much better compared to the Romanian coast. But things seem to change, at least in part.

Bulgaria has been one of the most handy destinations for Romanians for years, given that the price of a stay in the summer season was cheaper here even 50% compared to the Romanian coast. Only, in the last year, the prices have also exploded to the neighbors from the south of the Danube, against the background of the economy of this country, but also of the crisis and inflation that grinds the economies of the European Union in recent years. Thus, the Romanians who wanted to book their holidays in the resorts on the Bulgarian coast had a pleasant surprise. People have been astonishing with astonishment that in some cases the price of accommodation in Bulgarian hotels almost doubled compared to the summer of 2024.

Increasing prices

Among those who have seen each other in front of this reality are a young woman who will spend this holiday in Bulgaria, in the same resort, in the same hotel and exactly under the same comfort conditions as last year. Only, to his surprise, the prices increased by over 50%, although the pack of tourist services bought is identical to the one from 2024. Surprised, the young woman posted on a Facebook group reserved for Romanians who spend their holidays in Bulgaria.

“A situation is kneaded. Good, but this year the price was very high.“She found.

The other Internet users tried to find an explanation, but many admitted that prices have increased in Bulgaria in the last year. Others, however, say that prices would have remained unchanged in the case of hotels.

Explanations sought by Internet users

We took from November in 2024 and 2025 and we have the same prices at Topola Skies, ”someone wrote.

“Maybe the child is now entering adults. How old is he?” Someone asked. “The child is 4 years after stay”the answer came.

One reservation is 6 nights another on 7 nights, one room is double with sea view and another exclusively with sea view. So different things”, Another tried to find an explanation, although it was obvious that the price of the camera increased a lot anyway. “I have always had a front to the sea, I reserved on different sites. It is an extra day, but so there are hundreds of euros”, explained the author of the initial post, after explaining previously that the price of an identical room was 157.8 in euros per day in 2024, and in 2025 the same room costs 233 euros for a day.

“They go to Euro this year and the prices are already calculated. This is the reason for pricing. Leva and euro is already working.”tried another to find a plausible explanation.

Prices really exploded in Bulgaria

Others have admitted that prices have increased in Bulgaria. “Yes, they have increased enough,” a laconicly pointed out.

“They were expensive, but it also matters the period. We were 3 years ago 2 adults with 2 children (1 year and 5 years) at Albena Laguna Garden All including June 27-350 euros. 2 years ago at the Golden Sands Hotel Berlin 1-7 July Garden with 880 euros. Last year Albena Laguna Beach stays for 7 nights 1-8 July Sol Nessebar Bay Mare – 1,350 euros ”, someone else wrote.

“It is not worth the money. The prices were doubled at some hotels and the fact that they were raning on the building and in a few rooms do not justify the increase of prices“, Commented another.

Others say they had similar experiences and that prices have grown seriously in a year, with more than 50%. “Prices too seem to offer some hotels. Last year I was in Oblor at Blue Magic with 900 euros 5 nights. This year, fixed period – 1,480 euros”someone noted.

“In front of Romania is ok”

“Huge expensive everywhere”, a punctuated another. “They really have increased, but compared to Romania it is ok ”, observed someone else.

“They doubled. It is not worth it. Better Greece and Turkey”wrote another internet.

“What I took last year at 1,200, now is 1,700 with a discount!someone else confirmed.

“Yes, they all increase! I make comparison at restaurants, what we consume last year, this year costs almost double!”said another member of the group.

“Yes, this year the last year the prices are much higher. All the offers sent to my customers were beyond their expectations. The same question I received from all. For example, I took my vacation in January 1,800 euros. Now it is 2,450 euros”there was another observation.

He even answered the author of the post that started the whole discussion.

“We took in December every time, precisely for the reduction of Early Booking, but it seems that the prices have expensive. Between 2023 and 2024 there was no big difference compared to 2024 and 2025. It is comfortable in Bulgaria because we also go with dog and grandparents. Please, I was curious if I see it, but it was only to Gergana, the young woman noted.

“Yes, last year I gave 1,400 euros, and this year is 1,970 euros”another confirmation came.

“With 1,300 you go to Crete 2 adults and a child, Greece is gorgeous!”, A was another opinion. “Last year it cost 3,000 euros in Reina, this year 5,000 euros, but we have no view at sea, also 2 adults and 3 children”someone pointed out. “Bulgaria has been expensive for 2 years. But it still has better offers than the Romanian coast”, There was another opinion.

Why would prices increase in Bulgarians

Bulgaria is waiting for an increase in about 30% of the prices for accommodations this summer, and the discussions on this topic have been held since February. The representatives of the Tourism Industry from the Black Sea and the Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borshosh, met in Burgas and discussed the issue of pricing.

During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism reported an increase of 10% – 20% of the early reservations for 2025.

Also, the travel operator Yanitsa Dineva stressed that the increase of prices is in line with the regional tendencies, giving the example of Turkey or Greece, with higher increases than Bulgaria. One of the topics debated was the creation of the Guarantee Fund for Consumer Protection, a measure required by the EU, but postponed by Bulgaria for almost four years. Minister Borshosh admitted that there are divergences of opinion on the fund, but stressed that they will be resolved in the next three months.
