Rompetrol, in partnership with the SMURD Foundation, completed the installation of semi-automatic defibrillators in 80 fuel distribution stations in the country, as well as in several public spaces in Constanța and Prahova counties. The devices, intended to increase the chances of survival in case of cardiac arrest, are placed in heavily trafficked areas, on national roads, highways and in frequented public spaces.
“For Rompetrol, the safety of employees, customers and communities remains a priority direction. Rompetrol stations are visited daily by tens of thousands of people, and the placement of defibrillators in these spaces creates a major advantage in critical situations. The SMURD Foundation has been our partner for 16 years, and together with them we are committed to contributing to the strengthening of the national emergency system and increasing public safety”. said Zhanibek Nugertayev, general director of Rompetrol Downstream, according to the press release published by Rompetrol.
Employees in the network of stations have received specialized training in the use of defibrillators and first aid, so that intervention can take place in the first critical minutes, until the arrival of medical teams.
“Rompetrol’s contribution to this project strengthens the intervention network from the first critical minutes and shows that the involvement of the private sector can bring benefits with a direct and immediate impact. Every minute gained before the arrival of medical crews is essential, having a direct impact on the prognosis of the victim, and quick access to such a device gives the community a chance for survival”. emphasized Raed Arafat, the president of the SMURD Foundation.
In Prahova County, the project was carried out in partnership with Ploiești City Hall, where semi-automatic defibrillators were installed in six highly frequented public spaces, such as institutions, markets and leisure areas.
Five other similar equipment were installed in Constanța county, contributing to the expansion of the rapid intervention network.
The location of all defibrillators can be consulted on the dedicated map in the application of the Department for Emergency Situations and on the FiiPregatit.ro platform.
