A large manufacturer of auto parts and accessories with factories in Bistrita-Năsăud has announced massive layoffs: more than 250 employees will be made unemployed starting in March 2026, amid the company’s financial problems.

Bistrita-Năsăud is facing new waves of collective layoffs, after two of the county’s largest employers announced the dismissal of 340 employees.

The most affected is RAAL, a major manufacturer of auto parts and accessories, which owns two factories in the county – one in Bistrita and the other in Prundu Bârgăului.

The company will reduce its staff by 250 employees, out of a total of 1,538, both direct and indirect workers and TESA staff, according to a statement from the County Employment Agency (AJOFM) Bistrița-Năsăud, quoted by Radio Cluj and Agerpres.

This is the second significant collective layoff in the county this year. At the beginning of 2026, the Betak company, active in the treatment and coating of metals and insolvent since December 2025, notified the AJOFM that it would lay off 90 employees out of a total of 179.

In both cases, the affected employees will become unemployed as of March 3, 2026.

During the notice period, they will benefit from services offered by AJOFM, including professional information and advice, labor mediation and access to professional training programs, to support rapid reintegration into the labor market.

“In January 2026, two economic agents notified AJOFM Bistrita-Năsăud of their intention to apply collective redundancies. An economic agent in the field of metal treatment and coating announced the collective dismissal of 90 employees out of a total of 179, as a result of economic and financial difficulties generated by insolvency and the need to reduce personnel expenses. Also, an economic agent active in the manufacture of parts and accessories for motor vehicles will affect 250 employees out of a total of 1,538, the affected staff belonging to direct workers, indirect workers and TESA staff”, it is stated in the AJOFM press release.
