“I don’t usually make it a priority to correct the media”the “Usual Suspects” star said in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday.
“If I did this, I wouldn’t have time for anything else, but with recent articles claiming I’m homeless, I feel the need to respond.” writes News.
“Not to the press, but to the thousands of people who have contacted me in the last few days, offering me a place to stay or simply asking if I’m okay”Spacey, 66, said.
“And to all of you, let me tell you that I am truly touched by your generosity, period,” he continued. “But I feel it would be dishonest of me to let you think that I am really homeless in the colloquial sense of the word.”
Spacey brought up his recent interview with The Telegraph journalist Mick Brown, which was published on Wednesday.
“In my conversation with Mick Brown, the wonderful journalist… I told him that I basically live in hotels and Airbnb apartments and go where I have work,” said the actor.
“Just like I did when I started in this job. I’ve been working almost non-stop this year, and for that I have a lot to be thankful for.”
Spacey noted that there is “many people” which “live on the streets”, “in their cars” or in “terrible financial situations”, but that he is not in the same situation.
“And I feel very sorry for them,” he said. “But from the article itself it is clear that I am not one of them, nor did I try to say that I am.”
Spacey’s clarification comes after The Telegraph published an article with the headline “Kevin Spacey Interview: Homeless, Canceled and Singing in Cyprus”.
During the interview given to the publication, the actor said that he stayed in hotels and Airbnb homes.
“I literally have no home, that’s what I’m trying to explain,” he said.
The star of “American Beauty” added that his financial situation was not “great” after the sexual assault scandal, in which he denied the accusations and was acquitted in court.
Spacey mentioned that “cthe costs of the last seven years were astronomical”.
The “1780” star confessed that she feels like “back to the starting point” and traveling “where the work is”.
“It’s all in storage and hopefully at some point if things keep getting better I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle again.” he said.
