Video Adrian Minune could represent Romania at Eurovision. The fans proposed him, after the interpretation of the Salcia song: “With your voice, this country will surely win”

The well-known manele performer Adrian Minune returns to the public’s attention, after internet users launched the idea that he could represent Romania at Eurovision someday.

The discussions resurfaced in the context of Romania officially returning to Eurovision in 2026, after two years of absence, an announcement recently confirmed by TVR. Currently, the only artist who has clearly shown his intention to participate is Mihai Trăistariu, the one who won 4th place in 2006 with the song Tornero.

On social networks, appreciation for Adi Minune started after he performed the song “Salcia” by Horia Moculescu.

“Why don’t you go to Eurovision, Adriane? With your voice, this country will surely win, if you choose better songs, don’t miss it”, writes a Facebook user.

Someone else added: “What a voice the artist has, he wasted many years on his hands, but he has an incredibly clear and beautiful timbre. Adrian, the one and only…”, according to Click!.

Horia Moculescu, impressed by the talent of the maneleist: “It’s a pleasure to hear!”

The 2023 interpretation of the song “Salcia”, on the stage of the “Constantin Tănase” Magazine Theatre, alongside the late Horia Moculescu, impressed both the audience and the famous composer who passed away this month.

“It’s a pleasure to sing, we got on stage to sing you a song that I can’t escape from, “Salcia”, but that doesn’t mean that I switched to manele and he to light music”. I wanted to sing “Salcia” with Adi Minune”, declared Moculescu then. Adrian Minune thanked him in front of the audience: “I’m very excited, that I got to sing with Horia Moculescu, kiss the teacher’s hand!”

Marina Almașan about Adi Minune’s chances at Eurovision

The former head of Romania’s Eurovision delegation, Marina Almășan, views the idea with skepticism, although she recognizes the artist’s talent:

“We have a country of prejudices”, she told Click!.

In 2010, under his coordination, Romania achieved one of the best results in history: 3rd place with “Playing with Fire”, performed by Paula Seling and Ovi.

Daniela Gyorfi proposed two artists of the genre: “Adrian Minune and Florin Salam could sign up. I would send Florin Salam to do acapella at Eurovision”, she stated on Adrian Enache’s podcast.
