Thousands of candidates who want to reach the chair, some for the first time, held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the written test of the national degree contest. Many say they no longer see the meaning of this evidence, given the announced changes. “For what positions do we fight?!”.
For many candidates from the national title contest 2025 the hopes were wrapped. They made their files with confidence, supported the inspections, but the perspective is uncertain. There are also so little chance of becoming holders, for many even non-existent (because for the discipline they have supported there are no titularized positions in the list), but they have presented, I say, more because “”If I still got into the game … “.
At the level of the whole country, over 39,700 candidates who obtained a minimum 5 of the special inspections/practical tests (out of a total of over 41,300 initially registered for the title 2025) were expected. Of these, 7,400 are from the 2025 promotion, graduates of the pedagogical, post -secondary high school, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree or the departments for the training of the teaching staff.

The exam was held in 121 exam centers, the candidates having four hours to solve the requirements of the subjects.
At the exit of the exam room, many expressed their dissatisfaction. Not the subjects are the source of this dissatisfaction, but the uncertainty related to the list of vacancies. At the end of spring, a certain number of vacancies were displayed, few of them with viability of over 4 years (title) and many more positions/chairs/chair fragments that can be occupied by supplement. Now no one can guarantee that the list remains valid, especially when it comes to the positions/hours available for supplementation which, they fear the candidates, will be divided as a result of the announced increase of the teaching norm by two hours.
Candidates by profession
Shortly after 12.00, at one of the examination centers in the municipality of Slatina (Olt county) the atmosphere began to be animated. In front of the National College “Ion Minulescu”, parents, brothers, friends, spouses, spouses, waiting for the completion of the evidence and the reactions of the candidates. The stake of the exam is discussed and it is concluded dry: I support it for nothing.

“This year the topics were much heavier than in the previous years. I do not understand why this exam was held, given the changes that are expected. That is, everyone that gives this exam is clear that it is not holder. And I understand that they are in danger the posts of the holders, but to reach supplement.” says a candidate who has been teaching for a long time and repeats this exam regularly.
“There are no posts on my discipline (n. Red. – Biology), for years. I give in order to fulfill. There are few for supplements. And not whole positions, but hours. I have been teaching for a long time. Decades. Since when do I give the exam? I no longer have the notion of time. I didn’t give up because it’s a passion. But now it is a must give up, because there are the changes that have already been announced ”the teacher added.

In the same situation there is another teacher, also with great age at the chair. Teach English and take the exam for the sixth time. “If you have over 7, you can give it from five to five years. If you are under 7, from 3 to three years. English holders are, posts are not available, About all the chairs that are English are busy. I think this year there are no perspectives, the question arises if the hours will give them to give them the norm. ”is conscious candidate.
“I have hopes, why not”
Graduates are much more confident. I don’t even know the procedure too well, and for many it was, anyway, “An attempt”.
“It seemed quite accessible to me. There are a few positions for the degree and a few others and there are 50 candidates ”, says a graduate 2025. It targets a position of physical education teacher, and the changes expected so far does not scare it. “The law is not yet adopted, it has not been adopted in the Official Gazette, so I still have hopes, why not. If not, we try again in the year. This year I will look for something, I will see, anything ”says the young man.
Another young woman, also at the first attempt, evaluated that she has a chance to get a good note. Came out after three and a half hours. “The main subject was exactly like BAC, exactly-exact as in Bac, the second-the importance of motivation in teaching, learning and evaluation in the kindergarten, and at the third was about the evaluation and the modern methods of evaluation in the children’s kindergarten. I am from the 2013 promotion, but for 12 years I did not take this exam, I had other priorities, I had to give up. I want to get to the chair, because I like the children, but I know very clearly that they are not positions, not even a title, but 20 supplements. Of course, some positions were drawn to me, but the chances are extremely small, considering that there are 200 candidates on those 20 places put to the beating, and those of supplementation, not title, I repeat ”, said the young woman. Regardless of this year’s result, he will not give up, added the candidate.
“It was quite easy, especially since I gave the BAC this year and it dropped all my mill and it was quite easy. I handled the pedagogy and the methodology, except that I did not make the 10th grade. Otherwise, perspectives few on Olt. I’m not sure if I want to hire Olt, because I will go to college. Without degree I can get involved in private too ”, says the young graduate of a pedagogical high school.
To the chair after 12 years of work in private system and abroad
Among the candidates I met a physics graduate, a discipline for which teachers in the not too distant future will be found with great weight, the crisis already manifesting in many counties. He graduated from the faculty 12 years ago and worked in completely other fields. He was manager of a retail company, and in the last year he was abroad. Although financially the win was satisfying, he says he felt he wanted to do something else. “Posts are, just that farther than the locality. About 30 km is the distance from the target post, but it is not an impediment. Where else worked, in another system, my shuttle is completely settled, now we will see. The wage difference will be, and not in favor of education, you know how much the salary of a beginner, everyone can give a google search, but I thought about my peace, I do not want to experience work abroad, from there. Now, we see what chances I have. I had very little training time, I had to resume the subject again, for 12-13 years I did not do this anymore ”added the young man.
He says that immediately after graduation he did not take into account a teaching career, although in the faculty he liked the experience from the internships he carried out at several high schools in Craiova.
“I don’t even know why I didn’t try then. Probably the revenues were very small, smaller than now. Otherwise, contact with the somewhat field I had. My grandmother was a teacher, my mother is a doctor, my uncles were teachers, they somewhat blown my passion for didactics and pedagogy ”said the young man.
At the national level, the written test of the national title contest 2025 was supported for 119 disciplines, the topics and scales being provided by the National Center for Curriculum and Evaluation, these being at this time published on the Subject.edu.ro website.

Most candidates enrolled for pre-school education with teaching in Romanian (over 8,300 candidates). For the primary education with teaching in Romanian, over 6,100 candidates registered; for physical education and sports – teachers – over 3,600 candidates; for Romanian language and literature – over 2,300 candidates; For English – over 2,000 candidates.
The initial results will be published on July 22, at the headquarters of the school inspectorates and on the dedicated site. The final results are displayed on July 30.
